Dana Greeley, NOAA/PMEL

Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory, Carbon Dioxide Program

Bio: I started sailing with NOAA in 1986 and began working directly for PMEL in 1990. I’m still working for PMEL, still going to sea, and I still enjoy it.

What I’m doing on this cruise: I will be analyzing seawater for Dissolved Inorganic Carbon (DIC), aka Total Carbon Dioxide (TCO2). I will be working most of my 12 hour watch in a 20’ container converted to a sea-going laboratory. I will be sampling from throughout the water column to improve our understanding of the ocean carbon cycle and how it is changing over time. They will let me out of the container when it is time to sample more seawater and/or for the occasional meal.
