Bio: I am from Novato, California and went to Reed College in Portland, Oregon. I grew up exploring coastal ecosystems in California and have always had a deep love for these spaces. I studied abroad with Sea Education Association and conducted deployments and sample analysis in the South Pacific. This was my first and only time at sea so far but I felt so at home. This experience brought my love of science and the ocean together and pushed me to pursue marine science. I am looking forward to gaining more research experience and am excited to contribute to our knowledge of ocean acidification in the Indian Ocean.

What I’m doing on this cruise: Our lab will be measuring pH and total alkalinity to characterize the CO2 system in the ocean and examine the uptake and cycling of carbon over time. I will be running the pH spectrophotometric analyses.
